So that news updates from the people on the ground are
easy to access for people from around the world by searching for a known hashtag.
For local activists and journalists - so that people can find their tweets by them using the
hashtag system based on their location and marking their reports.
Our hope is that people will use this for local news reports on twitter, so that those of us who
are not in the area where the conflict is taking place can follow the events
and don't have to rely solely on regular news channels.
Hearing from people on the ground will hopefully give us a broader understanding of the situation.
